2008 Tournament Age Eligibility

Junior players are eligible for the following age categories as listed below:
 

Note: Juniors may need to play in an older age group should they require qualifying points for their next National Championships age category.

Example: A junior in the 2nd/final year of the u14 age group should plan to participate in u16 events to earn enough qualifying points to be invited to the next year Regional tournament that selects Prairie Region representatives for Indoor and/or Outdoor Junior National Championships.

2008 Junior Tour Points Table

Tennis Manitoba Junior Tour tournaments are national qualifying events for players residing in Manitoba. Events support full feed-in consolations where players are fed-down until the main draw quarter-finals. Ranking points are awarded according to draw size as follows:

Note: The point values for the Manitoba Junior Open will be a multiplier of the above table and be used toward a Tennis Canada National Junior Ranking for those players that have represented Manitoba at the Canadian Junior Nationals.

Junior Tour Points Standings for National Qualification

An agreement has been reached by Tennis Manitoba and Tennis Saskatchewan to discontinue the Prairie Regionals in 2008. Each province will undertake its own qualifying process to determine the players that will go to Junior Nationals.

To determine the players that will represent Manitoba at Junior Nationals, a 4-player round-robin will be held for each gender in each age group. The top 3 players in each age group of each gender in the point standings will qualify for the round-robin. The fourth position will be determined by point standings or successful challenge, as determined by Tennis Manitoba, which will result in a wildcard playoff. Players wishing to challenge for the fourth round-robin position must notify Tennis Manitoba in writing.

Players considered for wildcard requests will be those under special circumstances that where not able to participate in Tennis Manitoba Junior Tour qualifying tournaments within the age category they wish to challenge and are able to successfully demonstrate competitive justification for the request. Juniors aspiring to participate in the Nationals are encouraged to qualify for their chosen age category based on their accumulated Junior Tour points standings. Wildcard challenges will be granted only under extraordinary circumstances.

The two players with the best records after completion of the round-robin will qualify for Junior Nationals. Please refer to the following standings for ranking placements:
