Tennis Manitoba Provincial
Team
About the Program
Tennis Manitoba introduced the Provincial
Team Program in October 2004 in an effort to raise the
level of play for junior players in the province.
The Team program is currently overseen by Provincial
Coach, Peter Otto, and consists of a maximum of 24
players, split evenly into an A team and a B
team. The A team is primarily made up of older
juniors, with the 8 members of the
Western Canada Summer
Games team receiving automatic spots on the
team. The remaining positions on the A team and
the B team are selected by the team coach and
assistants based on player performance during team
tryouts.
The Provincial Team training consists of the
following components:
-
weekly on-court training at the Winter Club
-
weekly fitness training at the Pan Am Boxing
Club
-
mental training under the guidance of a sport
psychologist
-
biomechanical analysis with the use of the
Dartfish technology
-
match play during the practices at the Winter
Club
-
match charting.
