Tennis Community set to “Raise a Racquet for Kids” presented by Kids Dental on Wednesday, December 2 at the Winnipeg Winter Club featuring three of Canada’s top male tennis athletes.
Frank Dancevic, Peter Polansky
and Philip Bester will all be in Winnipeg for
the annual tennis event on December 2. Dancevic
is Canada’s top ranked male tennis player on the
ATP Tour this year reaching the semifinals at
Indianapolis in July and his second ATP World
Tour final at Eastbourne in June.
Peter Polansky is ranked number 2 in Canada
behind Dancevic. This July, returning from a
shoulder injury, Polansky helped to lead Canada
past Peru by defeating Ivan Miranda in the first
singles rubber. He also qualified for his first
Grand Slam main draw at the 2009 Australian Open
taking Igor Andreev to five sets in the opening
round.
Philip Bester is ranked number 5 in Canada and
lost a tough third set quarter final to former
number 8 in the world Marcos Baghdatis at the
2009 Odlum Brown Vancouver Open. Baghdatis
stunned the crowd when he picked up the
microphone and compared Bester to a young Roger
Federer.
Also coming to the event is Martin Laurendeau,
Davis Cup Captain and National Coach. Martin has
lead Canada to victory in five ties including
sweeps over Columbia (2007) and Venezuela
(2005).
Tickets to Raising a Racquet for Kids
presented by Kids Dental are $80 each and
