Qualifier Format for Junior Tour

Prairie
Regional Qualifying Moving to 52 Week System for
2008
Qualifying
for the 2008 Indoor Prairie Regionals will be based
on tournament results from the 52 weeks preceding
the Prairie Regionals. The Big Sand Junior Classic
at Taylor Tennis, April 6-8, will be the first qualifying
tournament under the new system. Junior players
that are attempting to qualify for the 2008 Indoor
Prairie Regionals will need to take into consideration
the age group that they will be eligible for in
2008.
Indoor Prairie Regional point standings for 2008
will be calculated by taking each player’s best
5 results from the following tournaments:

April 6-8: Big Sand Junior Classic at
Taylor Tennis

May 10-13: World of Water Junior Open
at Kildonan Tennis Club

May 22-27: Tuxedo Junior Open at Tuxedo
Tennis Club
-
July 3-6: LM Architectural Group Junior Open
at Taylor Tennis
-
September 14-16: Wheat City Junior Open
at Wheat City Tennis Club in Brandon
-
September 17-27: Auto Haus VW Fall Junior
Classic at Glendale Golf & Country Club

January, 2008: Winter Club Junior Open
at Winnipeg Winter Club.

Date for Second Weekend of Instructor Course
Please take
note that the second weekend of the upcoming Instructor
Course has been changed to May 4-6. This course
is the first level of Tennis Canada’s coaching certification
program.

Chen, McPherson and Waschuk Lead
Manitoba Contingent at Prairie Regionals
Manitoba players
captured 17 of a possible 24 Junior Nationals spots
after the dust settled at the Prairie Regionals
in Saskatoon this past weekend. Clarissa Chen won
the U16 Girls title, winning all four of her round-robin
matches without dropping a set. Will McPherson defeated
Alex Minuk 6-3, 6-1 to take the U14 Boys championship,
while Evann Waschuk was victorious in the U14 Girls
category after a 6-2, 2-1 (inj.) victory over Daniella
Silva.
