Something for Everyone
in 2007
2007 Tennis Manitoba
Tournament Schedule
Tennis Manitoba is
pleased to announce the tournament schedule for 2007. Once
again the premier event for the Open Tour is the 2007 Arby’s
Manitoba Open Tennis Championships. New to the 2007 schedule
is the Senior Tour and a series of tournaments aimed at
grassroots junior development, the Rookie Tour. The Junior
Tour continues to be the player development circuit for
those young athletes that aspire to compete at a national
level.
With four distinct
tournament circuits, tennis enthusiasts in Manitoba have
more opportunity to get involved with the game they love.
So grab a calendar, review the new tournament lineup, and
make tennis in Manitoba part of a healthier and happy 2007.

Progressive Tennis – Innovation in Junior Development
Progressive Tennis is a program for 5-9 year
olds which allows young players to learn and
play the game more quickly, efficiently and
successfully, using a systematic progression of
court sizes, balls, and racquets, to scale the
game down to an appropriate level.
The concept has been imported from European
countries such as France and Belgium where it
was used to successfully develop players like
Justine Henin-Hardenne and Olivier Rochus.
In 2007, Tennis Manitoba will be working with
member clubs to introduce the Progressive Tennis
program, which will include junior tournaments
that offer Progressive Tennis events.
