Tennis Futures Program an Overwhelming Success

    Wed May 25'05

Winnipeg, MB (TM) – The Tennis Futures program, organized by Bill Serbin, introduced 642 children to the sport of tennis on May 16, 17, 19 and 20. The program started in 2001, on a much smaller scale, as a means of introducing tennis to students in grades 4-6. Thanks in large part to Bill’s tireless effort, Tennis Futures has become a program to look forward to for several schools in various divisions across Winnipeg. Bill, a physical education teacher and certified tennis coach, has a passion for bringing tennis to children and he has put a tremendous amount of time into making Tennis Futures a huge success.

Tennis Manitoba is proud to support the Tennis Futures program and would like to acknowledge the following sponsors who contributed to this event:nt:

Arby’s provided fabulous sandwiches and wraps every day for the volunteer instructors and have been a great supporter of Tennis Futures from the inception of the program.

Sun Valley, Portage and Dakota Family Foods provided refreshments for the instructors and participants. Wilson and Adidas donated prizes for the children.

Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club opened up their facility for four days to give the children a great experience on excellent tennis courts.

Lastly, a huge thank you to all of the instructors, coaches and tennis enthusiasts who volunteered their time on the court to make Tennis Futures a great activity for the children again in 2005!
