Schools
Program
The
Tennis Manitoba Schools Program is targeted at children
in elementary schools, but it can be accessed by junior
high and senior high schools as well. The proper fundamentals
are taught within a fun and playful environment. The
program is designed by Tennis Canada and introduces
the lifetime sport of tennis to children.
Tennis
Manitoba’s Technical Director, a certified level II
coach, conducts the tennis clinics in physical education
classes using mini-nets, mini-racquets and sponge balls.
The students receive instruction on the forehand, backhand,
serve and volley, as well as the rules of tennis. Fun
games are also incorporated. All equipment is supplied
by Tennis Manitoba.
If you
would like to introduce tennis to the children in your
school please call 925-5660.

The Tennis
Futures program (above) introduces tennis to students
in grades 4-6. Several schools in various divisions across Winnipeg
participate in this annual event which is
held at various locations in May. The main focus of these clinics is to promote healthy active living through a sport that is non-contact and offers equal opportunity to boys and girls. |
